Twenty-five immigrant women write about their experiences living outside their place of origin, forming a patchwork quilt in which each square contains a trajectory, a story, a moment in their lives. For different reasons, to different places, at different times, each of these women decided to move. They are all “from somewhere else.” And they are all searching for their place.
Only those who have immigrated know the amount of sacrifices made – so well described by several of the authors in these pages – and the difficulties of starting over where one is unfamiliar with nothing. But part of the fun is precisely this: discovering the new, exploring, expanding horizons and learning new ways of seeing and being in the world.
